Kwikspace Projects

We have partnered with many companies throughout Africa, creating space solutions on time, on brief and on budget. These are just some of the projects we are proud to have worked on:

Recent African Projects

  • Zimbabwe Zimplats, Base

    Metal Refinery Refurbishment Project

We have been appointed to design, manufacture and transport materials as well as to supervise installation.  The camp includes accommodation facilities, kitchens and diners, a laundry, recreation facilities, a gymnasium and offices.

The project will house 500 people and has already commenced on a tight schedule.

  • South Africa Gauteng

    Classrooms, Gauteng Department of Education

While there are challenges that the South African education system is faced with, there are a number of businesses that are working alongside government to uplift the schooling standard across the country; and we pride ourselves on being one of those companies.

As an ongoing project, working hand-in-hand with the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE), we are in the process of delivering classrooms and grade R classrooms across Gauteng at various schools. By July 2015, we had delivered 22 buildings. We look forward to making a continuous, positive impact across the province.

  • Mozambique, Tete

    Training Centre, Servco

Kwikspace partnered with our client Servco to partake in a CSI project to supply and deliver a local agricultural training school with classrooms, offices and ablutions. Situated 30 km outside of Tete, the school uplifts the community through the training of locals in farming techniques.

Our local infrastructure allowed us to be suitably equipped to deliver to this remote area and support Servco on a very worthwhile community project.

  • Mozambique, Tete

    Remote Camp & Offices, Vale

Our turnkey projects are our signature projects due to our innate ability to provide a complete accommodation solution with amenities, particularly in the remotest of areas. This particular project took place outside of Tete, forming part of the railway line development from Tete to Nacala Port – coal mining country.

We provided rental units for accommodation, ablutions, site offices and diners as well as necessary amenities such as power generation, sewerage treatment, electrical reticulation, fencing, security and lighting.  We furthermore provided water and diesel supply as well as generator maintenance.

Executed throughout the rainy season, coupled with strict health and safety regulations and the difficulty of procuring machinery and equipment, we completed the project within the allowed time – now that’s great service!  As such, our client has extended their initial 12 month rental contract.

  • Mozambique, Rovubue

    Office Complex, Minas de Revuboe

We embraced an exciting project to supply product for international clientele originating from Australia and Japan. We proved our capabilities by efficiently delivering three mine offices, specified with insulated panels and light weight steel roof structures.

As our products were supplied from our Tete factory, we were uniquely positioned to provide services at a favourable costing and timeframe that saw the happy staff accommodated in a combination of open plan and private offices plus food preparation and coffee areas, meeting rooms and toilets.

  • Zambia, Kacholola

    Two Pioneer Camps, Mota-Engil

As part of the rehabilitation of the Great East Road in Zamia, Kwikspace was awarded the contract to build two pioneer camps along the construction route for Mota-Engil.  The scope of work included design, manufacture and assembly of various accommodation options, kitchens, diners, laundries and site buildings.

The project was particularly challenging as the sites were 200km apart and exceptionally heavy rains were experienced during much of the construction time. Kwikspace has years of experience operating in Zambia and we were able to work closely with our client to complete the project on time.

  • South Africa, Secunda

Camp facilities & Offices, SASOL Shutdown

We have been providing products and services to SASOL for over 10 years and we were once again their company of choice to supply buildings for camp facilities and offices for use during their 2014 shutdown.

Within just one month, we delivered a total of 151 buildings and set them up on site for various uses, such as locker rooms, diners, ablution facilities and offices, which goes to show the flexibility of our products in terms of meeting clients’ requirements. As we offer various services that complement the manufacture and delivery of our buildings, we supplied lockers and canteen tables in addition to the buildings.

  • South Africa, Groblershoop

    Accommodation & Offices, Bokpoort EPC

We had the privilege of being involved at a unique project site, Bokpoort CSP – a concentrated solar power (CSP) solar thermal power plant, located near Groblershoop in the Northern Cape province of South Africa.

Here, we supplied site erect buildings for use as a 1500 m² office block, dormitories measuring 2300 m² in total, a kitchen/ diner, a laundry room, a recreation centre and an access control building. Further to this, we were responsible for the supply of mobile accommodation units, measuring 1300 m² in total.

  • South Africa, Gauteng

    Classrooms, Gauteng Department of Education

We’re a company that is aware of the incredible impact that education has on young lives and we’re also very cognisant of the fact that effective learning is best received in a suitable classroom environment. For this reason, it makes us extremely pleased to be able to provide a product that fits the requirement so well.

In 2014, we delivered a total of 186 of our insulated buildings to schools across Gauteng, for use as classrooms, grade R classrooms and ablution facilities. We were furthermore responsible for landscaping, paving, fencing, the connection of external services and for civil works at these schools during the set-up of the classrooms and ablution facilities. Because of the nature of our products, noise is reduced and temperature is well regulated, thus creating an improved environment in which to learn.

  • South Africa, Dingleton

    Camp Accommodation, Group 5 Housing

Having built a solid reputation for our large scale accommodation projects, we were keen to embark on the 1000 person Dingleton camp project to add value to a project of sensitive nature.

The entire Dingleton mining town community had to be relocated in order to comply with the legislation for minimum blasting distance. Situated 500m away from the mine’s open-pit, residents’ quality of life was negatively affected and thus re-housing them in Kwikspace’s prefabricated housing was a solution to the challenge posed.

We supplied 129 prefabricated accommodation units, as well as a kitchen and diner, mobile recreation facilities, 20 change rooms and ablutions units as well as site offices. Due to the robust nature of our product which is manufactured using polyurethane panels, the construction team now enjoys comfortable accommodation.

  • Mozambique, Tete

    Pioneer Camps, Mota-Engil

The Tete Coal fields of Mozambique have seen tremendous growth over the past few years but a major investment in rail infrastructure is still needed. Kwikspace has constructed numerous accommodation and pioneer camps along the Nacala Railway line and has now been awarded a contract by Mota-Engil to construct six pioneer camps on the Sena Railway line.

  • Mozambique, Tete

    Office Complex, Barloworld CAT

In 2013 we were hired by Barloworld Caterpillar to construct their new office complex. From this facility they will be managing the mining contracts for Caterpillar equipment so it was essential that we met the specifications for the long-term use of the buildings. The project required some different designs as well as double storey structures to make best use of the limited space they had available on the site.
