School infrastructure, safety and finances are all issues within our education sector and rural and peri-urban areas often suffer the most. Kwikspace has the ideal solution —prefabricated portable classroom buildings. Kwikspace was approached by the Department of Education to assist with the supply of two standard classrooms to an over-crowded school in Gaansbaai, a fishing town in the Western Cape.
The classrooms were manufactured and supplied in just three weeks with handover on the 14th March 2019. Both classrooms were supplied with lighting, electrical plug points for teaching aids, blackboards and pin boards. Kwikspace sourced paving, fencing and platforms.
Safe building solutions for schools
Kwikspace uses a thicker steel grade than the industry norm, and classrooms are insulated with polyurethane foam, providing superior strength, thermal insulation and noise reduction with a lower carbon footprint. They are effective in preventing ingress of dust, water and insects, making them an ideal mobile learning environment. The Kwikspace insulated panel is coated in Aluzinc painted steel, providing improved corrosion resistance and increased durability and longevity.
“This was an extremely well executed project completed in a very short space of time with accuracy and top-quality workmanship. Kwikspace was complimented by the client and end-user for excellent service and superior quality of the product and workmanship”, says Mico Botha, Kwikspace Regional Manager, Cape Town. “We are very proud that we are able to enable a better tomorrow by providing learners across sub-Saharan Africa with a space to learn and grow,” says Botha. To date, Kwikspace has built schools to accommodate over 150 000 learners throughout South Africa.
Kwikspace offers innovative, prefabricated products as alternative, modular building options for any sector requirement. With close to 50 years’ experience in manufacturing modular buildings, Kwikspace is Africa’s largest manufacturer.
