Kwikspace helps Sunbake and Paton Tupper get more learners into classrooms

Kwikspace, Africa’s largest supplier of prefabricated mobile buildings, has supplied three Mpumalanga-based primary schools with classroom units, purchased as part of a CSI initiative by local marketing agency and long-time Kwikspace customer, Paton Tupper and its client, Sunbake.

Sunbake had run a competition, inviting local primary schools to participate for a chance to win a prefabricated classroom unit. Lwaleng Primary School and Embonisweni Primary School in White River, as well as Celani Primary School in Hazyview, were selected as the winning schools. Each received a branded classroom unit (7m x 7m) which accommodates 35 learners. “This incredible CSI initiative addresses the critical shortage of classrooms which affects communities across South Africa,” comments David Francis, Kwikspace Regional Manager: Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Acting on behalf of Sunbake, Paton Tupper placed an order for the purchase of three units in April 2022. Kwikspace manufactured these and then stored them at its factory at no cost, until the closing of the competition in May. Paton Tupper supplied exterior Sunbake branding for the units, ahead of their delivery. The classrooms were delivered and installed by Kwikspace in mid-May, complete with lighting, electrical plug points, blackboards and pin boards.

Kwikspace units are ideal for use as classrooms, as they are quickly manufactured and assembled, delivered and installed. “Our units are usable from the day they’re installed on-site,” comments Francis. “This is especially important for schools, where any build-related delays interrupt learning”. In addition to their speedy turnaround times, Kwikspace ensures product quality. Their units are constructed using Chromadeck steel Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) injected with polyurethane foam, making them robust, weather-resistant and well-insulated. They deliver a minimum life of 20 years, and are SANAS-certified.
