Kwikspace has completed phase one of a four-phase classroom rollout in KwaZulu-Natal. Contracted by the KZN Department of Education via the Coega Development Corporation, the completed project will add 137 classrooms to various schools in the province. Phase 1 saw the manufacture, delivery and installation of 15 classrooms across four schools.
The phase one order was received in early February 2020 and completed by mid-March, only six weeks later. Schools benefitting from the new prefabricated classrooms, which measure 7 m X 7 m each, are Gwejobomvu Secondary in Celini (four classrooms); Ricardia Primary School in Richards Bay (two classrooms); Heuwelland Secondary in Empangeni (three classrooms); and Lifalethu Secondary in Jozini (eight classrooms).
All classrooms include pin boards and chalkboards as standard extras, while concrete slabs and steps to the classroom were installed as additional requirements. Kwikspace also conducted onsite classroom joining and all electrical requirements.
Completion for phase two of the project is expected at the end of August 2020.
