Kwikspace, a leading manufacturer and supplier of prefabricated mobile buildings, has supplied classroom, office and ablution units to the Refithlile Pele Primary School in Soshanguve, enabling schooling to continue while the school undergoes building upgrades. The supply of the rented units is made on behalf of the customer, TBM Infrastructure – the contractor appointed to carry out the school upgrades.
Kwikspace has been the supplier of choice for the school infrastructure upgrade projects awarded to TBM Infrastructure since 2016. “These projects give our company the opportunity to be part of the education sector, and this is a rewarding experience as the result is a new school for future generations. We take pride in providing quality temporary infrastructure and levels of comfort while the project is being executed,” says Lebohang Dube, Rentals Division: Kliprivier, Kwikspace.
At the end of March 2022, Kwikspace delivered and installed 20 classroom units (sized 7 m x 8 m), four ablution units, including two paraplegic toilet units, as well as five office units sized between 3 m x 6 m and 3 m x 12 m. All the units are equipped with an electrical distribution board, light switches and plug points, which allows for business and education continuity while the upgrades to the school are underway. The classrooms will have added pinboards and chalkboards.
The 12-month rental contract came into effect on 1 April 2022, and Kwikspace will facilitate an extension to the contact, should the customer require it.
“With Kwikspace turning 50 this year, classroom buildings and related mobile infrastructure at schools and various other learning environments and facilities are truly part of the ethos of the company. The company slogan, ‘We’ll accommodate you’, certainly extends to the various applications offered. Knowing that children with a thirst for knowledge and enquiring minds, are utilising our buildings, is a great feeling!” comments Dube.
With the largest rental fleet of prefabricated relocatable buildings in sub-Saharan Africa, Kwikspace has the capability to deliver rental units throughout southern Africa, within 14 working days. In this case, at the time that TBM Infrastructures placed their order, all of Kwikspace’s rental classroom units were in use. To ensure it would successfully fulfil the customer’s needs and deliver on time, Kwikspace rentals division purchased new classroom units from the Kwikspace factory. “We understood the customer’s requirements and are pleased to have assisted with the educational continuity of the school’s syllabus. This is the first rental supply to TBM Infrastructure, and we are looking forward to a long business relationship,” concludes Dube.
